I have an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and German) and a secondary PGCE in MFL, both from the University of Cambridge. I have been teaching mainly French but also some German in Southeast Essex for over twenty years. I especially enjoy teaching French literature and film at A Level.
I have a particular interest in support for Early Career Teachers and this was the focus of my MEd research at the University of Cambridge where I completed my master’s degree in Educational Leadership and School Improvement. I was awarded a distinction along with the Faculty of Education prize for the best thesis in my cohort.
Over my career I have been a Head of Department in a number of Departments, and I am currently the Induction Tutor at my school. I am also a Facilitator for the Early Career Framework for ECTs in the local area.
Away from teaching, I am a keen amateur viola player and I play regularly with the Essex Chamber Orchestra.

I am a British and French national with 14 years teaching experience in a UK school. I have held a senior teaching role in an MFL department planning and delivering lessons at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level French.
I have regularly been graded outstanding in lesson observations and my main professional interest has been in mentoring trainee teachers and new teachers. I place great importance in delivering quality teaching to young people and I have really enjoyed coaching and supporting other teachers in achieving this.
I believe in adapting lessons and methods to engage and enthuse students so that progress is achieved, and excellent subject knowledge plays a big part in this. I have really enjoyed supporting and sharing this knowledge with Eureka students on SKE courses for 6 years now.
In my spare time I enjoy being outside as much as possible. I love running a few times a week, swimming outside in all weathers and walking my dog.

Spanish SKE Tutor
QTS Gained in 2011
- BA (Hons) French and Hispanic Studies
- PGCE (Secondary) in French and Spanish
I am an experienced SKE tutor and teacher of Spanish and French. I currently work as Head of MFL in a mixed comprehensive secondary school, managing a team which has dramatically increased the profile of languages across the school. In my current role, I am responsible for the planning of the curriculum at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level, as well as ensuring that this is consistently delivered across the department.
Throughout my teaching career, I have successfully mentored trainee MFL teachers, celebrating their successes as well as identifying and working together to develop any areas of improvement. As an MFL teacher, I am a strong advocate of the use of grammar as the foundation to learning a language, as well as ensuring that students are aware of the key phonics of the language to aide their oral proficiency.
I believe that language learning should be delivered in a fun and enthusiastic way, adapted to the ability and needs of the learner, with a lot of focus on exposing students to the richness of the language, as well as the culture of the countries in which the language is spoken. Over the last four years, I have enjoyed sharing my classroom experiences and subject pedagogy with students on their Spanish SKE course, developing their own subject knowledge as well as offering an insight into outstanding classroom practice.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and I have an interest in most sports, especially watching and playing football.
